So today I have made a few phone calls to local book stores and updated my Amazon Author's page...instead of writing. I am terribly conflicted over this. While I feel the desperate need to promote MMO to make it a success, I also feel the need to be a more prolific author in general. It's like that old Far Side Comic about how fisherman go crazy, "Fish or cut bait? Fish or cut bait?" It has been said that the best promotion that you can give your first book is to write another book, so maybe I just need to keep writing and forget about promotion. But then again, if no one knows about my books to read them, then what is the point of writing them. AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH! See what I mean?! Feel free to share any insight or thoughts you might have on this matter, because it might just drive me insane!

This one's easy: Write. If you write, you have more to submit/publish. The more you have to submit or publish, the more people will get access to your books. And the more you write, the better your writing gets.

My approach is inspired by Dean Wesley Smith. Dean can explain it better than I can http://www.deanwesleysmith.com/?page_id=860, but I can summarize. And not everybody agrees with Dean; but all of my so-far-meager writing success has come from listening to Dean's advice, so I give it some serious weight.

AuthorMy name is Jen Haeger and I have a degree in Veterinary Medicine as well as a Master's in Forensic Science, so I decided to forget all that and write novels. I used to read quite a bit as a youth, but was not introduced to truly spectacular writing until my husband showed me the works of Jim Butcher, Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, and others. We are both enormous dorks and enjoy Science Fiction, Fantasy, Board Games, and RPGs, but also try to get out backpacking every once in a while (much easier to do when we lived in New Zealand).
