So do you ever notice how things seem to fall to pieces on Friday afternoons? You never break a tooth or need a locksmith in the middle of the week. Oh no, it's always a Friday afternoon when you need someone, who has decided to start their weekend early, to help you out. I don't want to divulge too much about my current frustrating situation, but suffice it to say, I am waiting next to a phone for a call back regarding a time-sensitive issue that likely isn't going to happen today. :( Keep Writing and Edit On.
I Write, I Edit, I Write Again. Witness! We're Making Better Words, All of Them, Better Words. I Write to Burn Off the Crazy. Moonlight Medicine: Inoculation is now available for pre-order!!! Woohooo!!! Also, Penguicon is coming up at the end of this month April 29th - May 1st. Penguicon was the first con that my hubby and I ever went to, and we've pretty much been hooked ever since. On the off chance that you've never heard me mention Penguicon or what it's all about before, here's the skinny. "Penguicon is a non-profit, community-run convention for open source software and hardware, science fiction, gaming, DIY, and more." And it really is so much more with a literature track, a science track, costumes, and all kinds of geeky fun! I highly recommend it as a moderately priced, starter convention. This year I was going to take it easy and planned on being on the minimum number of panels to qualify for a discounted badge...yeah, that didn't happen. I am now on four panels, hosting a 2 hour writing workshop, and doing a reading and autograph signing in the brand new Writer's Block. So much for a nice relaxing con. Oh well. Hope to see you there! Keep Writing and Edit On.
I Write, I Edit, I Write Again. Witness! We're Making Better Words, All of Them, Better Words. I Write to Burn Off the Crazy. APRIL FOOLS!!!! No, seriously, having just finished up the "final" edits of Moonlight Medicine: Inoculation, I can safely say that you cannot edit too much, at least where copy-editing is concerned. Common mistakes that my publisher came upon included my use of the words "then" and "also" about a thousand times, a lot of comma and semicolon abuse, and, most embarrassing of all, the use of the word continence when I meant countenance! Oh dear. Well, I can only hope that this experience gives me the impetus to do that one extra editing pass on future pieces, and that I don't continue to make the same embarrassing mistakes! Keep Writing and Edit On.

AuthorMy name is Jen Haeger and I have a degree in Veterinary Medicine as well as a Master's in Forensic Science, so I decided to forget all that and write novels. I used to read quite a bit as a youth, but was not introduced to truly spectacular writing until my husband showed me the works of Jim Butcher, Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, and others. We are both enormous dorks and enjoy Science Fiction, Fantasy, Board Games, and RPGs, but also try to get out backpacking every once in a while (much easier to do when we lived in New Zealand). Cheers! Archives
