My husband came up with an excellent idea to get my books out into the world. He also came up with a great name for the program, Traveling Books. These are free copies of Moonlight Medicine: Onset that I am going to seed in Geocaches and other unlikely (or maybe likely?) places. The purpose of these copies is to circulate to as many individuals as possible. I am curious to see how far they can go, so keep your eyes peeled, you never know where a Traveling Book may be hiding. It wasn't my idea, but I will shamelessly steal it! So I was at a book signing the other day for author Kim Harrison and she gave me an idea. She has this thing, where she has people take pictures of her books and get this, their SHOES! I thought it was a little odd at first, but then decided it was a great way for her fans to interact with her on her website. Sooooo, I decided to do something very similar, but since I am currently in this bet with my publisher about getting a tattoo (please see previous post "It's Just Crazy Enough to Work"), I decided that my "Novel + X" photos would be pictures of my novel plus a tattoo. Please feel free to send me photos of my novel which also feature a tattoo. You can post them under the newly created Forums tab of my this website under the Forum heading "Moonlight Medicine: Onset + Tattoo". Cheers! Okay, so it has come to my attention that there are a lot of Paranormal Romance (PNR)/Urban Fantasy (UF) books out there...I mean a lot...I mean a lot, a lot...I mean, you have no freaking clue how many PNR/UF books there are out there right now. I have pretty much been exploring book blogs in just this genre for 2 days now and I can tell you I was utterly gobsmacked by the sheer volume of books that I am up against for your reading time. SO! I have come to the conclusion that I need to do something to stand out from the competition. Something just crazy enough to work...My plan is thus: If 1000 copies of my book (both dead tree and e-book copies will count) are sold by my birthday (July 7th). Then I will get a tattoo of David's stylized paw print on my shoulder. My publisher is even willing to pay for the ink! So tell one and all, and don't be afraid to evangelize. |
If you give me your e-mail, I'll send you a monthly newsletter. Or bimonthly...we'll see.

AuthorMy name is Jen Haeger and I have a degree in Veterinary Medicine as well as a Master's in Forensic Science, so I decided to forget all that and write novels. I used to read quite a bit as a youth, but was not introduced to truly spectacular writing until my husband showed me the works of Jim Butcher, Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, and others. We are both enormous dorks and enjoy Science Fiction, Fantasy, Board Games, and RPGs, but also try to get out backpacking every once in a while (much easier to do when we lived in New Zealand). Cheers! Archives
